FAQs

Why should I choose Healthy Life Screening's services over that of another on-site company?

Healthy Life Screening is the only on-site screening company in the state of Ohio to provide individuals with an opportunity to be screened for Sudden Cardiac Death, which is associated with Heart Disease ( the #1 cause of death among Americans). Along with providing LV Dysfunction/Sudden Cardiac Death, Healthy Life Screening also provides screenings that test for Carotid Artery Disease/Stroke (#3 cause of death among Americans), Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Peripheral Arterial Disease, Intima-Media Thickness (IMT)/Stroke and Hypertension. These tests are all provided to you at extremely low price compared to that of hospitals. Healthy Life Screening also prides itself on the privacy of our participants and wants to ensure that everyone receives the most professional and caring screening possible. We understand how important your health is to you, so in turn, we want to make sure that when you come to our screening events you are as comfortable as possible during the whole process.

What does Healthy Life Screening actually do?

Healthy Life Screening is an on-site preventive healthcare company that specializes in ultrasound screening to detect possible risk factors that are associated with cardiovascular and vascular diseases. We come into your facility and set up our ultrasound equipment. For your convenience, we work closely with corportations, doctors offices and various organizations. We then conduct our inexpensive, non-invasive ultrasound screenings. We pride ourselves on privacy throughout the screening, while  maintaining a professional and caring atmosphere that many organizations cannot top.

What type of equipment does Healthy Life Screening use?

Healthy Life Screening utilizes state of the art ultrasound equipment that makes use of the Doppler color flow system, which is found in most hospitals. The equipment we use allows us to perform the tests in a painless, non-invasive manner.

Why should I schedule an appointment with Healthy Life Screening rather than with my primary care physician?

If your primary care physician is able to perform the same tests as Healthy Life Screening, he or she would not be able to offer them unless you showed symptoms or warning signs of the diseases. Unfortunately, these diseases often occur without symptoms or warning signs. Also, many insurance companies do not cover preventive health screenings, which is why Healthy Life Screening provides these test to you at an affordable price. If you receive your results back from Healthy Life Screening and are notified that you are at risk for one of the diseases you screened for, you then will be able to get further testing from your primary care physician or your local hospital. It is at this time that the insurance will cover the additional tests because Healthy Life Screening will have provided enough information to show that you are at risk and that further testing is necessary.

Who actually conducts the screenings and how long do they take?

Healthy Life Screening's Sonographers perform the screenings at each event. Our medical assistants will typically perform the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) and Blood Pressure. Our Sonographers and medical assistants are highly skilled, have had formal training and field experience before they are employed at Healthy Life Screening. On average, it takes approximately 30 minutes to get through the whole screening process.

How am I notified of my screening results?

You will receive your results through the mail after board certified cardiologists review the ultrasound screening results. You will receive your results along with recommendations on what to do if you are found to be at risk for any of the diseases you were screened for.

How long does it take to receive my screening results?

It is Healthy Life Screening's goal to have our board certified cardiologists read the screens, determine whether or not an individual is at risk for the diseases he or she screened for, have the physicians send their recommendations back to Healthy Life Screening to be processed, and send the screening information package back to you within 2 - 4 weeks.  In addition, a letter to your personal care physician is included with your letter and can be sent to your doctor upon your request.

What should I do when I receive my screening results?

After our board certified physicians review your screening results, they will provide recommendations on how to handle your results if you are at risk for the diseases you were screened for. The recommendations will also include a letter with your results. This is to be used by you if you choose to receive further treatment. Remember, these are recommendations from our board certified physicians and are merely just recommendations, it is up to you how you want to handle your personal situation.

How often should I schedule an appointment?

Many people tend to come back on a yearly basis as their normal preventive health check up. It does vary from one person to the next, on how often they schedule an appointment. Some of the variables include, but are not limited to, age, family history of diseases, family history of risk factors associated with the diseases, and the overall personal health decisions of an individual.

What tests does Healthy Life Screening provide and where?

Healthy Life Screening uses the latest ultrasound technology to screen for the possible risk factors associated with LV Dysfunction/Sudden Cardiac Death, Carotid Artery Disease/Stroke, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Peripheral Arterial Disease and Blood Pressure. These tests are very inexpensive and non-invasive to you, the participant. We conduct screenings at doctors' offices, corporations, and various organizations.

Why should I schedule an appointment?

Unfortunately, these cardiovascular diseases often have no symptoms or warning signs. The latest ultrasound technology that Healthy Life Screening uses is able to detect the risk factors associated with the life-threatening diseases. Many risk factors associated with these diseases are uncontrollable, such as aging or family history, so early detection of these diseases is the best way to help prevent them from taking over yours or a loved one's life.

Why are Healthy Life Screening's tests inexpensive?

Ultrasound tests within many hospitals can cost upwards into the thousands of dollars because of the extent of which these tests are performed. Healthy Life Screening uses the latest ultrasound technology to scan certain regions of the body that are the highest at risk for the cardiovascular diseases we screen for. Healthy Life Screening uses the images received from the screenings to determine whether or not you are at risk for the various diseases. We then will send you the results so you can follow-up with your doctor to get more extensive tests conducted that will actually be covered by insurance.

John W. Dietrich, MD - Akron, OH

"I was very pleased with my experience at Healthy Life Screening.  It was economical, time efficient, technologically advanced and gave me some peace of mind given my family history.  I would highly recommend doing this versus the same types of exams in any hospital setting."
